Stephens maintains his place in the squad having featured in the first round against South Africa, but is favoured on the right wing this time out, whereas Fletcher is set to make his first appearance of the series, starting at hooker.

The game takes place at the Payanini Centre, Verona, at 4pm BST on Wednesday 29 June.

Further changes to the starting line-up include Conor Oresanya, who scored a try having come off the bench against South Africa, starting at left wing, and scrum half, Charlie Bracken is in the starting fifteen this week. Number 8, Toby Knight, also moves from the bench to the start the game.

Speaking ahead of the second round, England men’s U20 head coach, Alan Dickens, said: “Taking the positives from our game against South Africa has been important as we prepare for tomorrow’s game.

“The three tries from Stewart, Ilione and Oresanya were pleasing and to perform against France, who had a strong start against Ireland in the first round, we need to keep focus on our set piece and maintain our discipline.

“The players have been training hard and are looking forward to facing France in round two.”
