Foundation seeks Runners for 2015 Great North Run

After the success of last year’s endeavour, the Falcons Community Foundation have five more spaces in the Great North Run 2015- and we want you to join our team!

The Falcons Community Foundation work across 5 pillars of activity; Club Development, Grassroots Sports, Health, Social Inclusion and Education. In addition to satisfying the Corporate Social Responsibility objectives of Newcastle Rugby Limited, the Charity also aims to attract a new audience to the sport of rugby union as it aims to motivate, educate and inspire through the power of sport.

Over the course of a season, the Foundation works throughout local schools delivering free rugby programme, provides free of charge match day festivals to local clubs and delivers coach the coaches master classes throughout the North East and Cumbria as part of it’s work. Alongside this the, Foundation also commits to supporting grass roots initiatives by local clubs through the Club Connections programme, as well as delivering Premiership Rugby’s core programmes in local primary schools.

With the appointment of a new Durham Development Officer, Phil Wallis, the community work is expanding into new areas alongside the development officers already well-established in Cumbria and Northumbria, the Foundation are looking to continue the development of rugby to improve the social lives, health and well-being of children all over the North of England.

If you would like to support the Falcons Community Foundation by running in aid of them at the Great North Run 2015, please email emily.oconnor@newcastle-falcons.co.uk with your name and a reason why! You will be informed of your success by Friday 31st January. The Foundations asks for a £50 registration fee to secure your space as runners and to receive a registration pack, which includes an invite to a Newcastle Falcons game for you to attend as part of the launch. There is also a £200 sponsorship target but the Foundation are able to provide tickets and other incentives for fundraising opportunities.
