Foundations laid for A Team in Northampton
Frustration at the result but satisfaction with the performances was the overriding feeling Falcons Academy Manager Mark Laycock took from Monday night’s Aviva A League loss to Northampton Wanderers.
Falling to a 24-20 loss at Franklins Gardens, a losing bonus point was taken from the trip to the Midlands and Laycock is now looking forward to embracing home comforts against Worcester on November 30th.
“It was a game we felt we probably should have won. We had the better of the early exchanges and a load of half chances but for whatever reason, we seemed to lose our way a little bit in the second half “
“Despite the result there were lots of positives to take. For a lot of the guys, that was the first rugby that they had played in several weeks, so there was an element of blowing off the cobwebs, which they did and then for some of the younger guys like Joe Luca and Josh Williams, it was a great experience.”
“There were also some good individual performances, Belisario (Agulla) played really well and took his try, there was another solid performance from Craig (Willis) at 10 and Hammers (Simon Hammersley) at 15.”
“Seb Ferreira put in another really strong shift in the second row and Santi Socino, who came on for Ally Hogg was phenomenal with his tackling and there was a lot of pleasing stuff to take from the game into next Monday night.”
Kicking off at 7pm, entry to the match against Worcester Cavaliers is free to supporters via the Tap and Tackle, with seats available in the East Stand.
