Free online lessons via ‘Premiership Rugby Champions’
The session will be delivered online on Monday March 22 between 4pm and 4.30pm, with sign-up available by emailing gavin.beasley@newcastle-falcons.co.uk .
This session will provide all the information needed for the interactive resource, which is available FREE for all primary schools.
Premiership Rugby Champions is an interactive resource for primary schools, delivered through the Premiership Rugby Digital App. The app provides digital lesson plans and resources available to schools across the country.
Within the programme there are three strands – Tackling Health, Tackling Numeracy and Tackling Character
It aims to take an all-inclusive approach to these three strands, applying real-world and sport-based scenarios to curriculum activity. Whilst the aim of this programme is to use digital devices to create further computer-literate pupils, all lesson content comes with different options to use the lessons without access to apps being needed.

The Tackling Health programme aims to take a holistic approach to educating pupils about their own health, wellbeing and how to lead a healthy lifestyle. It aims to improve young people’s understanding of what constitutes healthy eating and healthy diet. Rugby’s diversity as a sport played by all shapes and sizes provides the perfect vehicle to create different types of role models for all children.
Tackling Numeracy is an engaging rugby-themed numeracy programme. Aimed at KS2 children, delivering maths in a fun and engaging way, it is also aimed at preparing young people for the future where basic financial skills are essential. Using rugby-themed content that connects to real life experience, during the programme they will apply key skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, area, perimeter, budgeting and more.
Tackling Character is a five-lesson engaging rugby-themed values programme. It works on rugby’s core values of respect, teamwork, discipline, enjoyment and sportsmanship, aiming to develop positive character traits through both classroom and practical activities. During the five sessions pupils will discuss and develop their understanding of rugby’s core values. The sessions will be further linked to professional rugby, and how these can be taken into everyday life.
