FURY EYES WARRIORS TEST
Dean Richards’ men walked away with two points, earning a losing bonus point and their first try bonus point in the Aviva Premiership since 2009, but still lie second bottom in the table.
And with just five rounds to go Fury believes his side will need to start their remaining games in the same manner that they finished their last if they want to consolidate their place in the Aviva Premiership.
“We had a good session back after a few days rest and it was needed after the game at the weekend,” said Fury.
“It was a game of quarters really. We came well at the end but we left a bit too much to do so it was pleasing to come back but overall disappointing to lose a game we thought we could have won.
“We just switched off and Gloucester took advantage and were clinical in areas where we were not. We gave away too many penalties and will need to clear up those errors.
“Spirits are still high in the camp though, we have another game ahead to make amends for the mistakes we made and we need to rectify certain things that cost us.
“We all want to work hard and at the end of the day we still have our pride and a responsibility to ourselves and the fans to never give up or stop trying.
“It showed in the last quarter against Gloucester and we do have a lot of fight and really enjoy playing with one another.”
The Falcons have a golden opportunity to put further distance between themselves and bottom-side Worcester Warriors at the weekend as they welcome them to Kingston Park.
The Warriors are without a win all season, having lost 17 straight Aviva Premiership fixtures, but with Newcastle only having won once at home, Fury is looking to put an end to that disappointing record.
“It is a very tough league that we are playing in and every team is strong and every game is a different challenge,” he added.
“But hopefully we can rise to this one and do something about our home record this weekend.
“Everyone is raring to go and it is going to be a good game. We all watch the games and everyone knows how much Worcester have improved and how much quality they have in their squad.
“We were disappointed with the weekend but the good thing is we have a great chance to rectify that this weekend and really put on a good performance.”
