FURY FIRED-UP FOR JERSEY

The Falcons welcome Jersey on Good Friday (kick-off 5pm), and Fury, 26, who joined Dean Richards’ charges last October, is delighted with team morale at present.

“It is not just about spirit within the playing side of things, but the whole environment of the club from the grounds men to the fans is great,” Fury told Falcons TV as he walked around the ground.

“Every club that I have been at has been great, but the good thing about Newcastle Falcons is the team cohesion, and we are all working towards the same goals,” he added.

Paying tribute to the passionate North East fan-base, the four times Welsh capped No.9, said: “Our fans have been great, and there have been good turnouts for the long trips to places like Cornish Pirates, Cross Keys and London Scottish.

“The fans are right behind us, and hopefully we can follow up our 25 consecutive wins with another win this Friday.

“We are looking forward to the game and we want to put a good show on for the fans, and most importantly win the game.

“We know how physical and determined Jersey’s pack is, so we just want to get stuck in.”

Fury came on as a second-half replacement during a narrow 14-12 victory at Nottingham Rugby last weekend. A solid forwards display after the break culminated in a late Joel Hodgson penalty which secured the points for the Falcons.

The Welshman said: “It was a really tough game and we went down on the day of the game, but that is no excuse and everyone is fighting for a place in those play-offs.

“Every game is a tough game, but it is good to see the desire and determination of our players.”
