Gallagher Premiership fixtures announced for 2018-19

Fresh from their best campaign in 20 years, one which saw them reaching the semi-finals of the Premiership, European Challenge Cup and Anglo-Welsh Cup, the Falcons’ first three home games will all be played in front of the BT Sport cameras.

The dates and times of the first nine rounds of Gallagher Premiership action are all confirmed, with BT Sport having taken their picks.

All games from round ten onwards are yet to be confirmed, and could still be moved for TV.

Following their opening-weekend clash against Saracens the Falcons face back-to-back road trips to Leicester and Worcester, before hosting Premiership finalists Exeter and semi-finalists Wasps on successive Fridays, both on BT Sport.

Heineken Champions Cup rugby comes to Kingston Park Stadium for the first time in 14 years in October when the European window opens, the fixtures yet to be announced for a competition which sees the Falcons grouped with French pair Montpellier and Toulon, and Edinburgh.

Premiership Rugby Cup action follows with three rounds of the new competition held in late October and early November, while the popular festive fixture sees Newcastle hosting Gloucester on the weekend of December 21/22/23.

A trip to Pat Lam’s newly-promoted Bristol Bears rounds off the 2018 calendar, Newcastle beginning the new year at home to Harlequins.

Worcester Warriors visit Kingston Park Stadium on the first weekend of March, while three of Newcastle’s last four Gallagher Premiership regular-season games will come on home soil against Leicester Tigers, Northampton Saints and Bristol Bears, who travel to the North East on the final day of the campaign on Saturday May 18.

Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards said: “The Gallagher Premiership is the toughest club competition going and the standard just keeps getting higher and higher.

“Everyone has to play everyone twice, so in one sense the announcement of the fixtures doesn’t change anything, but what it does do is help build the excitement among our supporters who can begin to start planning their season.

“It’s always nice to start with a home game, albeit it against an outstanding Saracens side who were deserved winners of the Premiership last season, but not many teams will relish coming up to Kingston Park.

“The support we receive up here from our fans is absolutely tremendous, our home crowds have been growing steadily for the last few years and there’s a massive amount of excitement around the coming season.”

The Falcons have made seven senior signings going into the 2018-19 season as well as promoting six players from their academy, the influx including Samoa prop Logovi’i Mulipola, Fiji back-rower Nemani Nagusa and London Irish centre Johnny Williams.

Season ticket memberships for 2018-19 are available from just £225 for adults, and FREE for under-11s (one per paying adult).

The 18-game package includes all 11 Gallagher Premiership regular-season home games, all three Heineken Champions Cup home pool games, both Premiership Rugby Cup home pool games and both home pre-season friendlies.
