Generous donation boosts Newcastle Rugby Foundation
A long-term Newcastle Falcons season ticket holder who sadly passed away, Gerry was adamant that this money should be used to to assist young people in the community through, sport, teamwork and confidence building.
Head of Foundation Melanie Magee said: “This money will help us to make a really positive difference to young people’s lives, and we’re incredibly grateful to Gerry for having us in his thoughts.
“We’re also very thankful to Gerry’s friends and family for going out of their way to contact us during what must be a very difficult time.”
The Newcastle Rugby Foundation is a registered charity launched in 2005 with the mission to motivate, educate and inspire via the power of sport.
Their programmes reflect the challenges facing the disadvantaged communities in which they operate across the North East and Cumbria.
With around 30 different programmes, this small team makes a big impact, reaching and inspiring an average of 15,000 people annually through its twin strands, The Falcons Community Foundation and the Newcastle Thunder Community Project.
This can only be achieved with the unstinting support of a wide range of individuals and partner groups, and the Newcastle Rugby Foundation are grateful to the many contributors who help make this work possible.
