George Douglas

George was instrumental in establishing mini rugby in Northumberland and at Gosforth in the early 1970s. He was a passionate rugby man who served as the club doctor at Gosforth and then the Falcons from the 1970s into the early part of this century.

He also served as a member of the Newcastle Gosforth Board of Management following the move to Kingston Park in 1990, in which role he was a constant source of sage advice.

His son Stephen was a prominent player at the club, representing England at every level apart from full international, and would have received a professional contract at the Falcons were it not for a serious shoulder injury.

Our thoughts are with George’s family and friends at this difficult time. Rest in peace.
