Green out to end season on a high against Sale

The 3.30pm kick-off is the Falcons’ final match of the Aviva Premiership season, lock-forward Green believing they can set the tone for 2016-17 with a strong home performance.

The Norwich native said: “As good as Sale’s home form has been, their record on the road has not followed that.

“We have had some great victories this year at Kingston Park, we have been close in most of our games here and we just want to finish the season with a win. We managed it last year when Harlequins came here and we want to give our fans some happy memories to take away with them on their summer holidays.”

Newcastle and Sale drew 15-15 when the teams endured horrendous weather at the AJ Bell Stadium in November, Green saying: “We got a draw at Sale which felt disappointing at the time, but looking at their home form this season we are one of the only a few sides to have taken anything from them over there.

“They have won pretty much all of their home games, and that is built on a big pack which delivers them a very solid scrum and mauling platform.

“They are very good at the breakdown, Danny Cipriani has a bag-full of tricks and we know what they are about. We have a lot of respect for what they will bring, but it is just about stopping that and implementing our own game onto them.”
