Harris Hopes For Connacht Bounceback

Centre Chris Harris says Newcastle Falcons will be hoping to put things right when they face Connacht for the second time in ten days this weekend.

Having lost out 25-10 against the Irish side at Galway’s Sportsground on Friday night, disappointment was palpable amongst the Falcons’ team.

Speaking of the game Harris said: “We were really disappointed. We were in there for pretty much the whole game but our discipline really let us down.

“We missed some opportunities and gave away too many penalties, and it was those things that meant we came away with a loss, so all of the boys were absolutely gutted.”

Despite trailing throughout the match, the Falcons came agonisingly close to pulling ahead before their hosts added a penalty and a try in the dying minutes of the game.

“We ended up on the back foot, made a few errors, gave away a few penalties and then the game just sort of ran away from us a little bit,” commented Harris.

“Connacht came up pretty hard but it was opportunities we missed on the edge which cost us.”

However the Newcastle side will have a chance to atone for the result this weekend when Connacht travel to England for the return leg of the European Rugby Challenge Cup fixture.

“Friday’s result was disappointing but I think that going into this week we can put that right and hopefully come away with a victor at home.

“On home turf with a fast pitch we can hopefully play our game and come away with a result.

“The beauty of the back to back games is that we have a chance to put Friday’s mistakes right this weekend so we’ll hopefully do that.”

Sunday’s game against Connacht kicks off at 3pm at Kingston Park Stadium. Tickets for the game are available now [online][1], in person from the stadium Ticket Office or by calling the Falcons’ 24 hour Ticket Hotline on 0871 226 6060.
