Hogg latest to renew Falcons deal
Ally Hogg has put pen to paper on a new two year contract at Kingston Park, becoming the fifth member of the current squad to commit their future to the Falcons.
Capped 48 times by Scotland from 2004 – 2009, Hogg joined the Falcons from Edinburgh Rugby ahead of the 2010/2011 season and immediately asserted his command of the number eight position.
He has gone on to make a total of 117 appearances over his four and a half year stay in the North East and make himself a key component of a side rapidly improving its standing in the Aviva Premiership and European competition.
In his time at the club, Hogg has also earned a degree from Northumbria University in Business Management and has also become involved with grassroots rugby in the area this season, joining fellow Scotland international Mike Blair as coaches of Ponteland RFC.
Dean Richards said: “Having Ally commit to the club for another two year deal is great news for the club and will see him continue to play an integral part of its future. We have said that our aim is to create a team based around top young, local talent, supplemented by quality additions and Ally certainly falls into that category.”
“He showed there is life in the old dog yet against London Welsh, scampering down the touchline for a try and we’ll look forward to seeing more of that over these next two seasons.
Ally Hogg said: “Obviously I’m delighted to have signed a new contract with the club, it is in a really positive place right now, is moving in the right direction and I am keen to keep on playing a part.”
“I’ve been here five years now and have really enjoyed my time so far and making a contribution towards where we are today.”
“It is a really competitive environment at the moment, particularly in the back row with some really talented players pushing each other to be at their best at all times and that is an environment I really want to keep being a part of.”
