Home support hailed by Harris

Centre Chris Harris says the lift provided by the Kingston Park crowd during last weekend’s European Rugby Challenge Cup win against Brive can play a big part in seeing the team energise their season.

The final ten minutes of last Saturday’s game saw the volume level increase significantly and the Falcons secure a four try bonus point win, with Harris praising the fans role in that result.

“The crowd was really loud, especially in the first half when we were playing well. They responded well when we went behind and it gave us a real buzz and helped us get that final try. It’s fantastic when the crowd is like that.”

With 10 consecutive weeks of Aviva Premiership rugby starting against the London club on Sunday, Harris says harnessing that supporting is going to be crucial for the team.

“We need to start making Kingston Park a bit fortress; we’ve got Quins at home to start which is a fantastic way to kick off with. We still need to take it week on week and not looking too far ahead, but if we can make this place a really tough place to come then it puts us in a good light.”

Quins will provide stern opposition for the Falcons in front of a big Kingston Park crowd, as Connor O Shea’s side look to consolidate third place in the Aviva Premiership and close the gap on league leaders Saracens.

Harris though believes that one target has to be to gain the ascendancy at the breakdowns.

“Quins are doing really well. They have a big front five that they will use to try and get them go forward. They’ve got a really good set piece and if we can nullify that, it will really stunt their game.”

“Juan and I have spoken about where we can attack and we just have to try and exploit that and it’s down to us as backs to try and boss that and get it wide or run it up the middle and make yards of that.”

Tickets for Sunday’s game are still on sale, starting from £15 for adult standing and £25 for adult seating and can be booked by calling 0871 2266060, [clicking here][1] or by visiting the Kingston Park box office.
