Houghton enjoy Ultimate Rugby experience
Houghton RFC enjoyed an ultimate rugby experience at Kingston Park last Saturday, staging their Durham / Northumberland 3 fixture against Sedgefield as a reward for their fantastic support at the Aviva Premiership game against Gloucester.
The club sold the most tickets of all the Falcons club connections members for that game, and brought over 150 people to last weekend’s match against Wasps, establishing themselves among the most active of the club connections members.
As part of their experience, Houghton’s players and supporters were provided with the full Falcons matchday operation including the use of the home and away dressing rooms, that just 24 hours before had hosted players like Sinoti Sinoti, Elliott Daly, Will Welch and Christian Wade.
A strong and commanding performance by Houghton saw the club come away with a Bonus point victory to round off their big day, running out 36-14 victors.
Houghton RFC Club connections ambassador and Houghton Director of Rugby, Chris Simpson said: “ For me as a coaching experience it was one of the best things ever, for the lads it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
“The amount of positive praise from Sedgefield even as our opposition was incredible and we really appreciate the opportunity provided by Newcastle Falcons. It’s fantastic what the Falcons Community Foundation have done for local clubs giving such huge opportunities and just giving back to us for the support we show. The lads will be buzzing about this for weeks!”
