HUDSON SIGNS FOR GLOUCESTER
The 31-year-old lock heads to the Cherry and Whites after four years with the Falcons, during which time he captained the club for two seasons.
Starting his career at Bath Rugby, Hudson made the switch to London Irish in the summer of 2006 where his stay included a start in the 2008 Premiership final before his move to Newcastle.
As well as making more than 100 Premiership appearances, Hudson has also been capped at England Saxons level.
Hudson admits that leaving Newcastle after four years was not an easy decision to make.
> I’ve enjoyed my time hugely with the Falcons,” said Hudson.
“They’ve been a massive part of my career, and I’m fully committed to playing my part in helping them regain their Premiership status before I leave.
“However, I felt now was the time for a new challenge – I’ve always enjoyed playing at Kingsholm as an away player, it’s a fabulous stadium with a passionate crowd.
“My priority now is to finish what we’ve started at the Falcons and, hopefully, I’ll be facing Newcastle as a Gloucester player in the Premiership next season,” added Hudson.
Newcastle director of rugby Dean Richards said: “I’m sure I speak on behalf of everyone at the club in wishing James all the very best with his next career move.
“James has been an integral part of the club during his time here, and a great servant who now has his sights firmly set on helping Newcastle Falcons bounce back to the Premiership.”
