Newcastle Falcons, in association with our partner organisation Storm Fitness, are pleased to introduce the YADA, Storm’s Young Athlete Development Academy.

The YADA is a Training Academy for aspiring young athletes across all sports.

Athletes in top-level sport are now bigger, stronger and more powerful than ever so it is important that aspiring athletes are given the highest quality advice.

The optimal period to begin strength training is 11 to 13 years old for girls and 13 to 15 for boys. By starting strength training early you can reduce the risk of injury and maximise performance by training proper movement patterns and improving the way in which groups of muscles work together.

Storm believe that training young athletes is a huge responsibility and not one we take lightly.

Developing young talented individuals needs to be about more than just writing training programs. The team at Storm know how important the the right attitude and mental approach are to achieving success at the highest level because they’ve been there! Their rounded approach addresses areas they personally found to be important on their paths to becoming professional athletes:

– Hard work
– Enjoyment
– Self belief
– Integrity
– Acountability
– Humility

The YADA is run by Spencer Davey and Lome Fa’atau. Both enjoyed successful careers as professional athletes and both are now experienced strength coaches with a proven track record of results working with youth, amatuer and professional athetes.

The team said: “We are passionate about developing the talents of the young people we work with and we understand the importance of creating the right culture for continued improvement.

“We only ask that athletes come with a desire to improve and an open mind as to just how good they can be. We handle the rest!”
