Jamie Blamire called up by England
Newcastle Falcons hooker Jamie Blamire has been called up by England for this week’s Guinness Six Nations training camp in the Spanish town of Girona.
The 26-year-old has scored six tries in his seven caps for England, the most recent of which was against Wales in Cardiff back in August.
Blamire, who this month became a father for the first time, has also passed the 100 appearance mark for the Falcons inside the past month.
He will now form part of the England group preparing for their Six Nations opener away to Italy on Saturday February 3.
Newcastle Falcons’ interim head coach Micky Ward said: “I’m delighted for Jamie to get the call-up because he’s been working really hard here at the club, and I know he’ll give a good account of himself out in Spain.
“It’s been a big month for him with having his first child and reaching his 100 appearance milestone for the Falcons, and everyone here is really happy for him that he’s back in the England picture.”
