Jamie Blamire joins Falcons senior academy
Newcastle Falcons have made the first addition to their senior academy structure for next season, after signing Cumbrian hooker Jamie Blamire.
A product of the club’s AASE scheme at Gosforth Academy, Blamire’s impressive performances within the Under 18s set up this season have been rewarded and will see him train full time at the club in the new season.
He has also been recognised at U18s level by England, earning his first cap this year and has begun playing at Tynedale RFC, under the tutelage of Falcons first team hooker Scott Lawson.
Falcons Academy Manager Mark Laycock said: “Its excellent for Jamie, who has come through the Cumbrian DPP set up and counties. He joined the AASE scheme from Workington at 16, which is a big move for any young kid and he took that in his stride.”
“He has earned an England U18 call up and done really well with that and has also come and done some training with the senior squad where he has coped very well.”
“There has been a lot of hard work put in by his family and with PJ at the AASE scheme to bring out the best in him and he is definitely a talent of the future.”
