JOB VACANCY: Newcastle Falcons Academy Analyst

**Based at:** Kingston Park Stadium, Newcastle upon Tyne
We are Newcastle Falcons one of the Premiership rugby teams. We are setting our sights on a new, exciting future and are looking for a versatile, well organised, and motivated individual to join our team.
**Our vision** is to develop young players who are technically, tactically, and mentally capable of playing for our 1st team or England having a career in the professional game. We therefore are now looking for an ambitious and motivated academy analyst to join our analysis team at Kingston Park Stadium.
As academy analyst you will work as part of a team and support the academy coaches and players in line with the club’s vision. The primary focus of the role is to provide video and statistical feedback and present quality information for the coaches and players to use.
**Other key responsibilities as part of this role include:**
– Using video, technology and data to record all academy fixtures, training sessions and arrange for all academy players to have their other games recorded on a weekly basis (including DPP festivals/rep teams/uni/school/club games).
– Analyse all games in line with academy directives, providing individual/team footage, statistics and performance trends that can be used by the players and coaches to assist the player development programme at all levels of the academy. Whilst providing more in-depth analysis for targeted EAP players.
– Maintain an up-to-date senior academy player database of all games, statistics and trends across the season for each individual EAP that can be used for learning and development.
– Research opposition teams and produce preview and review material for games as required by the coaches, specifically aimed at senior academy games and academy U18 league games.
– Using Sportscode to provide reports and footage on identified local players in the associate academy and any players being scouted by the academy for review by the coaches.
– Manage and update an online website/web space and/or platform so all academy players and their support networks can view all academy games, training sessions and presentations as directed by the coaches to promote off-site learning and understanding. This also forms part of the EAPs added support.
– Provide performance analysis support to the ACE scheme at Gosforth Academy, including recording and analysing all their fixtures in line with academy directives (organisation of an intern under your mentorship is a good aid for this part of your role).
– Manage and update the academy Google Drive in line with the information produced above.
– Manage and update an online sharing space for coach education purposes, including filming and uploading video footage from around the world to share good practice, promote the academy and to educate the wider rugby community.
– Liaise with academy strength and conditioning coach and physiotherapist to monitor player game time as well as assist in any research projects, injury surveillance or player movement analysis.
– Ensure that all feedback is visually engaging and appropriately staged for each level of the pathway, keeping in mind current trends in learning behaviours within young adults.
– Other ad-hoc tasks as required by analyst and coaching staff.
**Key performance indicators:**
– Efficiency of service provided to academy staff and the academy programme.
– Development of sustainable practices across the academy.
– Adherence to all RFU/PRL regulations to maintain the academy licence.
– Feedback from players/stakeholders on quality of service provided.
**Essential requirements:**
– Experience of working or being in a rugby or sporting environment.
– Experience of working with data, using Sportscode software, other associated software and knowledge of analysis equipment and setting it up.
– Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
– Initiative and creativity in finding and presenting information in a user-friendly way.
– Enhanced DBS clearance.
– First aid qualification.
– Full clean driving licence.

– Manage student interns who assist with filming and small projects.
– Comfortable in a team environment and motivated to work independently.
