Zach Kibirige has become the latest Falcon to be called upon for England duty this summer, with the Yarm born flyer called into the sevens squad for this coming weekend’s Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix tournament in Lyon (June 13-14).

Kibirige, who made a successful return from injury to playing action towards the end of last season joins a squad that is looking to build on a fourth place finish in Moscow last weekend.

With experience of the sevens game through representing the Falcons in the Premiership Rugby 7s series in 2013, Kibirigie follows in the footsteps of Tom Catterick, who was part of the England team that featured in the Bucharest round of the series in September 2014.

Speaking of his call up, Kibirige said: “I’m looking forward to being part of the squad this weekend and getting a bit more game time under my belt before we start pre season at Newcastle.”

“I enjoy playing sevens and making use of the extra space and I’ve always liked playing for England when I’ve done it at age group level so this weekend should be a great experience.”

England play Wales, Belgium and Russia in their Pool on Saturday.

The Rugby Europe Seven series includes three tournaments – Moscow, Lyon and Exeter (July 11-12).
