David Flatman will be the special guest ahead of the Newcastle 2019 finals next May, as the Newcastle Rugby Foundation and the Bill McLaren Foundation host a special Long Lunch at Kingston Park Stadium.

Taking place on Thursday 9 May at the home of Newcastle Falcons, the lunch will get underway from noon with guests treated to a sumptuous three-course meal aimed at raising funds for both charities. Guests from the rugby community and the North East business scene are expected to attend a full afternoon of entertainment, with food and drink prepared by the stadium’s award-winning chefs.

Hosted ahead of the city’s latest moment in the rugby spotlight, with the European Rugby Challenge Cup and Heineken Champions Cup finals taking place on the following Friday and Saturday, the long lunch will raise essential funds for the Bill McLaren Foundation and Newcastle Rugby Foundation to enable the pair of charities to continue to deliver their work to young people, using the power of rugby.

Flatman, who played 182 times in Gallagher Premiership Rugby, earned eight international caps for England and is now a regular feature of both BT Sport and Channel 5’s coverage of top-flight English club rugby. He will be regaling the gathered audience with tales from across his career just a day before the first of the Newcastle 2019 European finals are staged at St James’ Park.

Tickets for the event are priced at £60 with full tables of 10 able to be booked as a group.

Guest interested in securing their ticket should contact John Oates at Newcastle Falcons by calling 07881291943 or emailing amy.kirsopp@newcastle-falcons.co.uk or John Thorburn at the Bill McLaren Foundation by calling 07929 655132 or emailing john@billmclarenfoundation.co.uk
