Ahead of a victorious return of Aviva Premiership Rugby action to Kingston Park last Friday, young rugby fans were able to learn from senior Newcastle Falcons stars as the Falcons Community Department hosted a development coaching camp earlier in the day.

Delivered by Alex Tait, Dan Temm, Josh Chisanga, Nili Latu and Tyrone Holmes, alongside members of the Foundaton’s team of fully qualified coaches, the camp provided aspiring young rugby players with a perfect opportunity to sharpen their skills ahead of junior rugby restarting.

Fullback Tait ran a kicking master-class, while back row players Chisanga and Temm gave insights on the breakdown from an attacking and defensive perspective.

Following a series of games on the main Kingston Park pitch, with teams coached by Holmes and Latu, a Q&A session allowed the attendees to gain further insights from the Falcons players, before going on to watch the exciting 19-17 win over Sale Sharks.

Phil Wallis, from the Falcons Community Foundation said. “The participants on camp benefited hugely from the experience of the Falcons players. All of the lads who delivered sessions were great. They are all really passionate about the grassroots level of the game and are always keen to give something back when they can.”

The next scheduled Development Camp will be the “Train Like A Pro” even on the 18th December, ahead of the European Rugby Challenge Cup fixture against Lyon, with full details due to be announced soon.
