Lawson Pleased With Win After Long Pre-Season
Speaking after Friday’s 27-7 victory over Georgia, Newcastle Falcons Hooker Scott Lawson agreed with fan sentiment that it has been a long off-season for the Kingston Park side.
“It was good to get a run out after a long pre-season,” said Lawson, “and great to get a win.”
Taking on the side placed at thirteen in the IRB’s world rugby rankings in their first 15-a-side game of the 2015/16 term, few had high hopes for Newcastle Falcons.
But the home side were determined to put in a performance against their international opponents, and set out their stall for the season with a thrilling and impressive 27-7 victory.
Speaking of his opponents Lawson said: “We were all aware of the strength and physicality of the Georgian side going into the game and knew it was going to be a great test for us, but we more than matched that.”
Himself an international veteran with 46 Scotland caps to his name, Lawson did have a score to settle after the game’s final whistle regarding the identity of the Falcons’ first half try scorer. Click [here][1] to watch the video and find out more.
