Laycock hails Academy products
Newcastle Falcons fielded another team well stocked with home grown talent in Saturday’s match against Brive Correze, with the line up featuring 13 players either graduates, or current members of the academy setup.
The full backline, excluding Argentine international centre Juan Pablo Socino, came through the clubs ranks.
In the pack, Andrew Foster in the front row and the back row triumvirate of Will Welch, Mark Wilson and Callum Chick also have the academy hallmarks, along with replacements George McGuigan, Ruaridh Dawson and Tom Penny.
With the club working hard to develop and cultivate the best talent in the region, the make up of Saturday’s squad was particularly pleasing to Academy Manager Mark Laycock.
Following the final whistle, he spoke to Falcons TV about those players who have come through the clubs academy and their performances against Brive.
