Lockwood returns in tonight’s A-League visit of Wasps

The loose-head (pictured) joined the Falcons from Jersey in the summer of 2016 and had shown no shortage of promise when he suffered the injury in the Aviva Premiership visit of Exeter on November 18 of last year.

Having embarked on the long road back to fitness that journey reaches an important milestone this evening, Lockwood packing down for the 7pm kick-off in a front row with Santiago Socino and Trevor Davison.

Ryan Burrows captains the side from No 8 as the Falcons aim for a repeat of the 67-21 victory they achieved over Wasps on the road in round one, Josh Matavesi starting at outside centre in a midfield partnership with younger brother Joel.

Adam Radwan and Zach Kibirige offer pace on the wings, the Falcons’ bench including fit-again back Tom Penny, Newcastle University’s Daniel Nutton and Northumbria’s Aedan Moloney.

Entry to tonight’s game is free of charge via the Tap & Tackle, which will be open for drinks and refreshments before, during and after the game.
