The agreement will see the two working together until 2024, and demonstrates the desire and willingness from both parties to work on common goals in a long-term project which also sees the Italian brand teaming up with Newcastle Thunder rugby league club.

For Macron this is a further recognition that the quality, design and technical features of its products are the winning cards which secured the brand a position of leadership in the world of international rugby.

At the Federations and national team level, Macron sponsors Italy, Scotland, Portugal and Germany. At club level, the long list of sponsored teams includes Northampton Saints, Glasgow Warriors, Edinburgh Rugby, Scarlets, Cardiff Blues, Pau, Lyon and Biarritz, while in the referee sector Macron is also technical sponsor of the Guinness Pro14.

Ross Cook, Macrons sports marketing manager and former Newcastle Falcons player, said: “It is a true privilege to be working with such an amazing club which has a special place in my heart, having had the honour to pull on the Falcons jersey many moons ago.

“This club and the North East in general is a hotbed for rugby talent, and the club’s strategy to help support and grow this talent fits in perfectly with Macron’s ideals.

“We have worked hand in hand with the club to create a bespoke kit which we hope the fans will love. We know that this season has been tough, yet, like the falcons from the flame, the club shall rise again, and together we can do great things.”

Mick Hogan, executive director of Newcastle Falcons, said: “It’s fantastic news that a well-known and respected rugby brand like Macron are buying into the long-term vision that we have for the club, and that they want to be part of it.

“Their proven track record of supplying quality kit for teams and supporters of both club and national teams is there for all to see, and we look forward to a long and mutually-beneficial partnership.”
