Marie Curie named ‘Big One’ charity partner
Marie Curie is the UK’s leading charity for people with any terminal illness and their families, and their logo will be on the Falcons’ match shirt for the televised 5.30pm kick-off as the top two teams in the Championship lock horns.
Match shirts will be auctioned online after the game, with all profits going towards the Marie Curie Hospice, Newcastle.
The Falcons are also giving supporters the opportunity to purchase a limited number of replica shirts featuring the Marie Curie Newcastle Hospice logo.
These shirts will be priced at £54.99, the additional £5 being donated to the charity with the club covering the cost of the logo and application. These shirts will also be subject to free postage within the UK, with pre-orders being taken by clicking here.

Marie Curie has a range of services aimed at helping people make the most of the time they have together. These include nurses that give one-to-one expert care at home, nine hospices offering inpatient and outpatient care, spiritual and bereavement support and a free telephone information and support line. Marie Curie’s hospices are at the heart of communities around the UK, including in Elswick, Newcastle.
As well as the match shirt auction and replica shirt sales there will be additional fundraising activity in the run-up to The Big One and on game day, with further details to follow in the coming weeks.
Newcastle Falcons’ executive director Mick Hogan said: “This will be our biggest game of the season with live TV exposure, and hopefully a sell-out crowd.
“It therefore presents the best possible opportunity to give Marie Curie some more fantastic exposure to highlight the incredible work they do in caring for people with any terminal illness, and to raise as much money as we can for their Newcastle hospice.”
Kelly Knighting-Wykes, fundraising manager at the Marie Curie Hospice, Newcastle, said: “We’re all huge fans of the Newcastle Falcons, and this partnership is a great opportunity for fans of the team to support their local Marie Curie hospice.
“The funds raised will help us continue to provide care and support for people living with a terminal illness in Newcastle, and to be there for their loved ones – helping them make the most of the time they have together.”
