MAXIMUM POINTS FOR RICHARDS & CO
The Newcastle Falcons boss watched on as his maturing troops extended their unbeaten run to 17 games by virtue of scores from Zach Kibirige (2), Rory Lawson and a penalty try.
“I’ve seen a lot of New Year’s Day games that have turned out to be disastrous for teams, but we came down here and did the job,” said Richards.
He added: “There were a lot of errors from both sides, but we still came away with five points and that is the pleasing thing for me.
“We’ve obviously got a lot to work on, and we had a chat in the changing room after the game – if you look at Doncaster’s record at home it’s not bad.
> We really expected a tough test and we got it.”
The Falcons return to action at home to Connacht in the British and Irish Cup on Saturday 12 January (kick-off 3pm).
