Momentum key ahead of Bucharest trip according to Barrow
Back-to-back Amlin Challenge Cup trips to Bucharest and Brive now lie in wait for Newcastle Falcons after their 16-11 victory at Sixways Stadium, the northeasterners’ second win on the road this term.
And the Sheffield-born second-row, who made the switch from Leeds Carnegie during the summer, is hoping his side can continue the winning feeling in the Romanian capital this weekend.
“It was a closely contested game in the end at Worcester despite us making a slick start to the game,” said the England Under-20 World Cup winner.
He added: “I think you saw two sides who really wanted to win the game, and we are thoroughly delighted to have edged it in the end.
“We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but to get two away wins at this stage in the season is great.
“To get a win against a talented Sale side who are performing very well in the league, and then to beat Worcester in their own back yard, you can’t underestimate that.”
Hoping to be a part of the travelling party for the European adventure, Barrow said: “This will be my first experience of European rugby, but the main thing is just keeping the momentum going.
“That’s the same regardless of what competition we are playing in and as a group we just want to keep performing.”
Following their European exploits the Falcons then take on London Irish in an Aviva Premiership showdown at Kingston Park.
“Momentum is the key thing and if we can keep that going through the European fortnight then the whole club will benefit.
“It’s always exciting to visit new countries and to play in different venues. There will be limited time for the squad to have a look around Romania and take in the whole place, but it’s still nice to experience new cultures and enjoy being in a foreign country.
“Bucharest will be a hostile atmosphere in which to play, as will Brive the week after, but I’m looking forward to that challenge and just hopefully being a big part of it.
