Monumental day for Rugby Excellence students

For the first time the 2022/23 programme has a total of three squads, with a boys’ AoC (Association of Colleges) Premiership squad, a boys’ AoC North East squad and a girls’ team.

Last Wednesday the programme development team defeated Park View in the AoC North East league at Chester Le-Street, while the AoC Premiership squad dominated their game down at Bishop Burton College.

The rugby excellence programme development squad came out on top of a tough battle, and despite harsh conditions showed exceptional passion and played with heart, demonstrating the culture Falcons Community are building on their programme.

This game was a great example of the strength of the programme as Tyne Met fielded a couple of their dual-code players.

A special mention to Ethan Parmley who played his first full competitive game for the college, and put in an excellent performance after a great few weeks at training. The player of the match was awarded to Alex Storey, who led from the front and physically dominated during the game.

The top-of-the-AoC-Premiership-table clash saw Tyne Met’s Premiership squad come out victorious in a highly competitive fixture down at Bishop Burton.

The victory was built on attitude and effort from the players, which is creating a really positive buzz around the group as Falcons Community continues to develop a high-quality rugby programme in the North East.

It was great for the boys to test themselves and compete against a Bishop Burton team packed with ACE-standard players – a real testament to the players’ and coaches’ work across the season so far.

Attacking player of the match was awarded to Harry Clarke, and defensive player of the match, Ben Rogers.

Falcons Community’s Tyne Met Premiership squad sit top of the table, and we look forward to next week clash away against Doncaster College.
