Morris signs for Nottingham Rugby
Originally from Yorkshire, 23 year old Morris first moved to the North East to study Geography at Newcastle University and was picked up by the Falcons Academy after showing great promise with National League 1 side Blaydon.
The Blindside Flanker continued to appear for Blaydon whilst representing the Falcons at A Team level, also making one appearance for the club’s first XV in last season’s LV= Cup competition.
Towards the end of the 2013/14 season Morris became the first Falcon to benefit from the club’s dual registration arrangement with Rotherham Titans, joining up with the Championship side in time for their play-off fixture against Bristol.
After appearing for his parent club in last summer’s Premiership Rugby 7s competition, scoring a try for the Falcons in both rounds of the competition, Morris suffered a broken arm at the start of the pre-season campaign. However, he returned to action in time to become a regular feature for Rotherham throughout the current season and will make the move over to Nottingham this summer.
Falcons Academy Manager Mark Laycock said: “Ben is a talented and very determined young player with a bright future ahead of him.
“Despite missing a lot of game time at the start of the season, Ben has been in strong form for Rotherham this term and is a good example of how our dual registration programme can benefit young players with regular high level first team experience.
“The move to Nottingham next summer will provide him with a good platform to showcase his talent and opportunities for further development. We wish Ben all the best in this next stage of his career.”
