After launching in April, Newcastle Falcons’ Move Like a Pro course is in full swing, with 19 men joining the weekly sessions held at Kingston Park Stadium.

A new joint initiative from The Movember Foundation and Premiership Rugby, Move Like a Pro offers fans the opportunity to take part in a free 12-week physical activity programme online, or at Kingston Park in sessions run by the clubs training staff.

With the programme entering its fourth week, the participants have already covered topics including portion size, food groups and compensating with exercise. While practical sessions are gently increasing in intensity with the men taking part in some strength exercises, touch rugby, and body-weight exercises.

Away from the stadium, the men are recording the daily number of steps they take, by using free pedometers and setting themselves targets to steadily increase physical activity and to keep a measure of their progress.

Speaking about the programme, Sarah Coghlan, County Director UK at Movember Foundation said: “Premiership Rugby and the Movember have a longstanding history; players and fans alike are as passionate about Movember and its causes as they are about rugby and have raised lots of funds and awareness for men’s health over the years.

“Together we want to get rugby fans moving and affect positive change on the health of rugby fans to inspire a legacy of long-term change across the rugby fan community.”
