Newcastle Falcons’ club photographer Chris Lishman will have a fine art photographic exhibition in the picture department in Fenwick Newcastle, from April 16 to May 1.
During the Fenwick exhibition, Chris will be displaying a wide and varied range of print mediums within the gallery, all of which is for sale during the two-week period. Should sales go well, Chris’s work is likely to become a more permanent feature in the department.
Commenting on his latest exhibition, Chris said: “I am delighted and excited to have an exhibition in such an iconic store in Newcastle, and very much look forward to displaying a wide selection of my fine art work to the public.
“I am a very proud Northumbrian and, whether it be for commissioned work or for my own private projects, when I am out there with the camera equipment I am always just loving what I am doing. We have such a plethora of outstanding photographic locations in the North East, I am truly convinced that both our countryside and indeed our fabulous coast are second to none in the UK.”
Chris decided to follow his passion for photography after a 25-year career in retail and after he had graduated from Newcastle College in 2011 with a distinction in Commercial Photographic Practice. He has been photographing commercial projects in the UK, Europe and further afield as he builds his new career and continues to expand his already-extensive portfolio.
His style continues to develop by using a combination of camera skills, filters and various digital techniques to make photographs that not only portray the atmosphere in a scene, but also the passion that he has for his work.
Chris has a strong rugby background, having made his debut for Morpeth 1st XV as a 16-year-old while he was at Durham School, going on to score over 2,000 points for Morpeth as well as captaining the Northumberland senior County Championship side. Chris also had a two-season stint playing in Sydney, Australia, and is now part of the coaching team developing Northumberland Under 20s.
During 2012, Chris was delighted to accept the post of club photographer at Kingston Park and has been able to document the rise of the club from the Championship. He very much looks forward to seeing the club develop further and is confident that the club is heading in the right direction. He is never happier than capturing the action out there on the touchline (whatever the North East weather throws at him!).
Chris’s sports photography work, as well as his scenic fine art, can also be seen throughout the West Stand at Kingston Park, proudly displayed on the walls.
