Kingston Park played host to the North East’s biggest fundraiser, Fashion Match on Friday night to raise money for local charities.
The glitzy event which was the brainchild of North East businessmen Graham Wylie and Ian Watson raised more than £300,000 for Marie Currie, The Children’s Heart Unit and the Chefs Adopt a School Charity.
Watson said: “A night like this can make such a difference helping to raise record amounts of money for the charities.
“We have been blown away by the generosity and support of business people in the North East.”
Joining forces with Newcastle United stars Vurnon Anita, Tim Krul and Shola and Sammy Ameobi on the catwalk, Newcastle Falcons scrum-half Chris Pilgrim strut his stuff alongside Durham County Cricketers.
Among the guests were Steve Harper, John Carver and Children’s Heart Unit Patron Alan Shearer.
Comedian Bobby Davro compered the event with entertainment provided by Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley.
