Falcon’s fans will have the chance have their say by casting a vote to decide the best try of the season scored by the Falcons academy U18 side.
As with the competition to determine the best try from the A league earlier in the year, fans are have been given five tries to choose from which showcase the impressive capability of the bright young talent emerging through the Falcons well established academy system.
The first candidate for try of the season is Dan Marshall, who found himself on the end of an impressive team try against Leicester Tigers. After a series of strong phases from the forwards, the ball went seamlessly through the hands of the backs to Marshall, who was able to capitalise on the limited space in front of him and score in the corner.
The second try nominated came from Open-side Flanker Jonny Teague against Yorkshire Carnegie. A line-out on the opposition five metre line resulted in all eight of the Falcons forwards involved in a powerful catch and drive, steered over the line by Teague at the back.
Try number three was also scored against Leicester Tigers, when a scrum deep in the opposition half lead to some sleek handling from the Falcons backs allowing Winger Gary Izomor to fly over the line in the corner.
The fourth try is the second nomination for Full Back Dan Marshall, which came against Worcester Warriors. The move began with a scrum just inside the Falcons half, which led to the ball moving through the hands of the backs and finishing with a fantastic inside ball to Marshall running a supporting line to score.
Gary Izomor’s try against Yorkshire Carnegie earned the fifth and final nomination for try of the season.A quick line-out taken from Carnegie’s 10 metre line was followed by some fantastic open rugby from the Falcons which resulted in Izomer crossing the line with a brilliantly timed supporting run.
