No fear for Takulua at Bath
The teams do battle at the Rec in a 3pm Aviva Premiership skirmish, Newcastle having been within a whisker of victory on their last visit having beaten the West Country side at home earlier in the campaign.
The Tonga scrum-half was part of the Falcons side which opened the current campaign with a 19-17 home triumph over Sale Sharks, saying: “It was very important.
“We came up with a gameplan to win our first home game and I think everyone’s confident that we can go away and beat a big team.
“We beat Bath at home last season and nearly beat them away, losing by a couple of points. Our first win will give us good confidence.”
Insisting the focus has been on their own performance during the build-up, the former Northland half-back said: “We won’t be changing much of our game plan. We’ve got all the tools we need to beat those big teams.
“I think they will come hard at us but we’ve just got to stick to our game plan. The forecast is for it to be rainy but we’ve just got to stick to our plan and play our game.
“I think it’s just our mindset that everyone has to work hard. It’s not just 80 minutes, it could be an 85-minute game so we’ve just got to dig a little bit harder. But we’ve shown we can beat big teams.”
