North P And I supporting Newcastle Rugby Foundation
A leading global marine insurance company with over 160 years of history in the industry, North P&I are based on Newcastle’s Quayside and have been strong supporters of community initiatives for many years.
They come on board as a part of the newly-formed CSR Club – an initiative which encourages businesses to support Newcastle Falcons’ official charity. The Newcastle Rugby Foundation aims to motivate, educate and inspire via the power of sport, and it is thanks to these partnerships that this valuable work can take place.
We know that corporate social responsibility is important to most organisations, but it can be difficult to set a realistic plan in this area. Knowing what has a positive CSR outcome and having the resources to do it (financial and personnel) are the two biggest challenges.
Linking up with a number of other businesses to help the Newcastle Rugby Foundation via our CSR Club can be a solution to both of these questions, with a collective group of community-focused partners working together.
Head of Foundation, Melanie Magee said: “Thanks to the support of North of England P&I we have already been able to provide online resources to help many of our participants engage in educational and physical activities during this challenging time of home schooling.
“We have also been able to continue offering activities in schools and provide much-needed physical activity options for the children of key workers, and hopefully do our bit to help to ease the strain on our fantastic teachers.
“It’s really important that we continue to offer support for our communities at such a difficult time when it is safe to do so, and without the support of community-focused companies like North P&I this would not be possible.”
NEPIA P&I CSR Committee representative Nick Tonge said: “It is a challenging time for society and, in particular, organising programmes for the benefit of the community.
“North is pleased to support and be part of the commendable work undertaken by the Falcons’ Community Foundation in its programme providing assistance with home-schooling during the pandemic, and we look forward to supporting more initiatives going forward.”
The Newcastle Rugby Foundation continues to operate within Government guidelines which means many of the initiatives planned as a result of the kind support of North P&I have been temporarily postponed, but we look forward to resuming this community work at the earliest possible opportunity.
