Northern RFC will be flying the flag for North East rugby for the second time in three weeks this weekend when they appear in the regional heats of the Lexus rugby tournament at Leicester Forest RFC.

Northern, a member club in the Falcons’ Club Connections programme, have already represented the region in the second round of the competition which took place at Carlisle RFC on 19th October.

The Gosforth-based club fielded teams at Under 7s, Under 8s, Under 9s and Under 10s level and won all age categories after an unbeaten run on the day.

Despite high winds and driving rain the Carlisle heats saw a great day of rugby which was topped off when the sun came out just in time for the Mayor of Carlisle to present medals and trophies to the competitors.

Northern now move on to the national final of the competition in April 2015 when they will be looking to bring at least one national title back to Newcastle!
