The Eagles have been forced into the final qualification round, with a four-way shoot-out between themselves, Kenya, Hong Kong and Portugal for the 20th and final spot at France 2023.

The USA open their account on Sunday against Kenya before tests against Hong Kong (Saturday November 12) and Portugal (Friday November 18).

All games will be played at the venue of the Dubai 7s, with teams aiming to accrue the most competition points over the duration of the qualifiers.

The nation coming out on top will join Rugby World Cup Pool C alongside Wales, Australia, Fiji and Georgia.

The USA are once again led by former Falcons coach Gary Gold, who said: “Our defence is improving and we’re trying to be more of a threat with the ball in hand.

“Day in and day out training for the last few weeks has also been a positive element as the group continues to realign for the international stage.

“This extended assembly time has been fundamental for both the players and coaching staff as we set ourselves up for the best opportunities in Dubai.”

Newcastle Falcons are next in action on Saturday when they host Bath in Gallagher Premiership action.
