Alex Codling joined Newcastle Falcons as head coach in the summer of 2023.

Codling spent the 2022-23 season at French club Oyonnax, helping them win the Pro D2 regular season by 24 clear points and then earning promotion into the Top 14 by defeating Grenoble in the final.

A lock-forward during a playing career which saw his clubs including the likes of Harlequins, Saracens and Montpellier, Codling won his England cap against Argentina in 2002 before embarking on his coaching journey.

His previous coaching roles have included forwards coach at Harlequins, head coach at Ealing Trailfinders and assistant coach to the English national team for their 2021 June internationals.
