PORT OF TYNE FESTIVAL A HIT WITH YOUNGSTERS

Thursday 13 March 2014 Written by: Adam

The festival saw eight schools from the Port of Tyne Schools Project take part with over 200 kids involved in the competition.

The Falcons Community Foundation has been working for the past six weeks to bring rugby to local schools in South Shields as part of the locally sponsored programme, and has seen more than 500 pupils participating.

Despite the windy conditions, the kids worked hard and produced some really outstanding performances on what thankfully remained a dry day. The tournament welcomed visitors from the Port of Tyne Community Action fund panel to see the difference their contribution makes, and Newcastle Falcons First XV player James Fitzpatrick, who presented winners Marine Park Primary school with their trophy.

The Community Foundation wishes to thank Forest View Primary, Marine Park Primary, Harton Primary, Hadrian Primary, St. Bedes, St.Peter & Pauls, Seaview Primary, Ridgeway Primary for taking part, and we hope to see them all again at the Port of Tyne years 3-6 festival at Kingston Park Sunday 30 March prior to Falcons v Worcester.

Tickets for the game can be bought on the Newcastle Falcons website.
