A total of nine senior academy players, including Sean Brown, Nick Cairns, Josh Hedley & David Nelson volunteered their time to help shoppers and raise a total of £304.78 for the charity

Falcons Academy Manager Mark Laycock said “It is really important on a number of different levels that professional sports people give something back to the community and the academy players have really bought into the fundraising aspect in recent months.”

Looking to the future, Laycock is eyeing a link between the Falcons Academy & the Percey Hedley Sporting Academy explaining, “The longer term plan is for the players to mix with the Percy Hedley Foundation athletes in some wheelchair rugby games and maybe get involved in some coaching there too.”

Sheila Coltman, fundraiser at the Percy Hedley Foundation said “It is quite a remarkable effort given there are only three tills in the store. We are over the moon and are really grateful for the efforts of the boys and especially for giving their time up on a gloriously sunny day. The money will be a great help to us.”
