POWELL READY FOR SAINTS TEST

The Saints welcome back their big guns for the visit of Dean Richards’ men which is televised live on BT Sport, and Powell, 26, is itching to pit his wits against Jim Mallinder’s charges.

“Franklin’s Gardens is a lovely place to go and play your rugby, and it’s probably one of the best grounds in the league with a great surface and a great crowd,” said Powell.

He added: “We know it’s going to be an extremely tough challenge, but it’s one that I know the boys are relishing. It’s a game that we look forward to, and like I said before the Saracens game, this what playing in the Premiership is all about – playing against top class opposition at fantastic venues.

“It’s a great chance for everyone to show what they can do.”

Newcastle come into Saturday’s showdown on the back of a disappointing 20-3 defeat at Gloucester in the LV= Cup. The former England Saxons man is keen for his side to bounce back in positive fashion, saying: “We created a lot of opportunities considering the amount of time we turned the ball over, and I thought we defended well which what is holding us in good stead and making us competitive in games this season.

“We’ve defended really well this season and the boys are working really hard for one another.”

After the Falcons’ trip to Northampton, Harlequins are the visitors to Kingston Park on Sunday 1 December (kick-off 2.30pm). Tickets are still available for the game by calling 0871 226 6060 or [click here][1] to purchase online.
