Premiership Preview – Gloucester
Newcastle Falcons travel to Kingsholm for this weekend’s Aviva Premiership encounter looking to continue their current run of good form at one of rugby’s best known theaters
.
Home to the infamous Shed, it is a ground that is steeped in rugby tradition and one that has been the scene of many close encounters between the two teams over the years but particularly in the current era, with the two games played under the clubs current coaching team both decided by one score.
While much has been made of the club’s strong home form, the Falcons are also showing signs of progress on the road, having taken at least a point from three of their last four Aviva Premiership away games.
That sort of performance will need to form the foundations of the Falcons efforts on Saturday, as Gloucester themselves look to harness their impressive home form, which has seen them lose only two premiership games on their patch all season.
It is a game that will hopefully provide the same entertainment levels as last season’s 42-40 thriller, along with a result that further underlines the strides being taken by the Falcons in 2016.
Kicking off at 15:00, the match is not televised but will be broadcast live and in full by BBC Radio Newcastle online, on 95.4 FM, 1458 AM, DAB and freeview channel 719.
The Falcons official Twitter feed and app will carry full text commentary while highlights will be broadcast on Sunday evening on both ITV and ITV4.
