Promotion push begins for Thunder
Newcastle Falcons’ rugby league stable mates Newcastle Thunder are just three wins away from promotion to the game’s second-tier and will kick off their playoff campaign at Kingston Park Stadium this Sunday afternoon against Doncaster RLFC (KO 2:30pm)
Finishing the regular season third in the League 1 table, Thunder will take on a side boasting former England international Rangi Chase as they plot their route into the semi-final stage of the playoff series.
With a side combining exciting homegrown players alongside full internationals and former NRL stars, Newcastle’s rugby league side have been playing some thrilling rugby, scoring the most points of anybody in the division after 20 games.
