Prop Daniels packs down for the Falcons
The 27-year-old tight-head has been on trial with the Falcons for the last few weeks, director of rugby Dean Richards saying: “Mike is a good operator who has shown up well.
“He will definitely add to our squad, he is well regarded and we’ve been impressed by what we’ve seen from him during the couple of weeks he has spent with us.”
The 117kg forward made one Premiership appearance for Wasps last season having been loaned there from Nottingham, and is relishing the opportunity of joining the Falcons.
Daniels said: “I’m really grateful for the opportunity Newcastle have given me to come up and play this season, and likewise to Nottingham where I had been doing my rehab beforehand.
“It’s going to be tough for Newcastle in the Championship because everyone is gunning for us as the favourites, but with the quality we’ve got in the squad it should be a good season.
“Everyone is working really hard in training, the lads will give full respect to every single team we play and hopefully we will be able to achieve our goal for the season of securing promotion back up to the Premiership.”
Born in Reading, the front-rower was a member of Bath’s academy prior to studying at Loughborough University, going on to make 35 first team appearances in three seasons for Worcester Warriors.
Spending the 2017-18 season with Hartpury, Daniels moved to Nottingham in 2018-19, earning his loan spell at Wasps.
