Proudly supporting the Newcastle Rugby Foundation
Newcastle Falcons are delighted to announce the Newcastle Rugby Foundation as its charity partner for the 2023/24 season.
The Newcastle Rugby Foundation (reg. 1107851) was established in 2005 and is the official charity of Newcastle Rugby’s professional teams, Newcastle Falcons and Newcastle Thunder.
Each year, they work with over 15,000 people across the North East and Cumbria in some of the most deprived communities to activate positive change.
The foundation continues to do incredible work and some highlight projects include:
- Mixed ability rugby
- HITZ employability
- Falcons Fit
- School and club connections.
- Women and girls’ rugby programmes
- Cast inclusive volunteering
Throughout the 2023/24 season, Newcastle Falcons will be further supporting the Foundation with several initiatives that include; special Rugby+ merchandise drops, ticket purchase donations, till-point donation opportunities and regular fundraising events alongside the usual ‘buy a Foundation Flutter ticket’ and bucket donations at match days.
There will be much more confirmed throughout the season, so stay tuned across both the club’s and Foundation’s websites and social media channels
Speaking on the announcement, chair of rugby Matt Thompson said: “We’re delighted to have the Newcastle Rugby Foundation as our charity of the year and further our support for the fantastic work they do throughout the region.
“We know our supporters are fantastic in getting behind the club and there’s no doubts they’ll do the same here.
“We’re looking forward to what’s to come and excited to work on a number of collaborations with the Foundation throughout the season.”
Head of the Newcastle Rugby Foundation, Melanie Magee added: “We are very fortunate to have been supported by Newcastle Rugby since the inception of the Charity in 2005 and are delighted we have been able to go one step further this year with our inclusion as Charity of the Year.
“The Foundation play such a vital part in making rugby+ the positive difference that changes lives for good in our region and the support of the Club, players and staff is crucial to enabling us to make this happen for so many people. I’d like to thank Semore Kurdi and Matt Thompson for their backing and look forward to engaging with as many fans as we can this year”
