Recharged Green out to finish season on a high
The 24 year old played 54 minutes in the game against Bath, during which time the Falcons eight gave an excellent account of themselves and where Green enjoyed being back in the fray.
“It was obviously nice to be back in the starting line up after a few weeks of not being involved; earlier on in the season I started every game and then had a bit of a break so that was nice, although it was a bit disappointing not to walk away with the result. But personally it was good to be back out there.”
With the league taking another week’s break for cup action, the Falcons have an extended preparation for their game against Gloucester, with only two further games to follow.
Reflecting on the remaining schedule, Green said: “This week we’ll be more of the little technical stuff and next week we have to get back into preparing for Gloucester so we’ll start really looking at them and getting ready for that game.”
“Then we have a week off, Sale away and Quins at home – then it’s the summer! The season seems to have gone pretty quickly.”
In a season that has seen the club adopt a more attack minded philosophy to their style of play, it seems appropriate that the kick off away to Leicester feels less than seven months ago and Green is calling on his team-mates to ensure the campaign ends with a final surge.
“This season we’ve played some good stuff but there have been a few results where we probably should’ve won but didn’t, so we just have to try and end the season on a high rather than just fizzle out.
“If we do that everyone will think we’ve had a pretty average season whereas if we can have three good games and maybe get a few wins then we can finish on a bit of a high and go into next season on a bit of a high.”
“I wasn’t here last season but from what everyone has said we’ve been playing a lot better, although we haven’t really got the results. But then there are probably three or four games where we’ve lost by two or three points and they’re the games where we want to try and turn around and win next season. And if we win those we’d be around mid table which is what we’re aiming for.”
