The charge, brought by citing commissioner Shaun Gallagher, related to a push on referee Greg Garner during the Aviva Premiership match against Leicester Tigers at Kingston Park on Sunday 2 March.

Brookes, 23, is free to play again on Monday 21 April. He will be available for Newcastle’s final two Aviva Premiership matches against London Wasps (away) and Exeter Chiefs (home) on Saturday 3 May and Saturday 10 May respectively.

The case was heard at the Leeds Brighouse Holiday Inn by a panel of Antony Davies (chairman), and Austin Newman.
