Richards happy with Reds result
Two George Wacokecoke tries proved the difference in a game which took its time to get going, the director of rugby saying: “Jersey are a good side, we knew it would be hard and I’m pleased just to come away with the win.
“Jersey deserved their try at the end, even if we were disappointed about conceding it, and we had to work all afternoon.
“We hadn’t played any pre-season games so a hit-out like this was ideal, and it was a battle.
“I was pleased with how the lads stuck at it, and we eventually got our rewards. The new signings slotted in well, it wasn’t always pretty but overall I’m pretty happy.”
Crediting the hosts for a feisty 80 minutes, the Falcons boss added: “Jersey are a well-drilled side and many teams will come a cropper here during the season.
“We created quite a few opportunities, we converted a couple of them and it’s something to build on.
“On the whole it was a decent effort, and we’ll now look forward to hosting Doncaster next Sunday.”
